A community care space for chronically ill and dynamically disabled people to participate in meaningful connections, access needed social support and mentorship, and participate in a model of trauma care that meets us exactly where we are.
The mission of The Chronicles is to undo aloneness, build space and capacity around trauma, and to move around the system's barriers to access the care we deserve.
I am a queer dynamically disabled person who was born with a connective tissue disorder that has resulted in a magical and difficult life. Due to my connective tissue disorder, I have recurrent Cerebral Spinal Fluid leaks (CSF leaks), comorbidites that require repeat surgeries, and other symptom episodes that have rendered me other-planetary and/or in bed for long seasons. I am no stranger to the darkness of the soul that can accompany long stretches in a dark room. And. I believe deeply in the wisdom and connection of illness, of disabled culture & community, and of Sick care. I believe we Sick ones hold the wisdom of revolution, the communion with the heartbeat of humanity, and the deepest capacities for love. If these are things you seek in your life, I'd be thrilled to work with you.
I am not a diagnostician, a traditional clinician, or a person who will seek to "fix" you. Instead, I acknowledge the ableist conditioning that cause suffering to disabled bodies and minds, and seek to meet you exactly where you are to find places we can nourish and resource you within an increasingly ableist culture. Despite being left out of many mainstream mental health models, I believe we can heal when care modalities adapt to our needs.
I reject the medical model of disability that teaches us we are flawed and unequipped for meaningful participation in life. I believe wholeheartedly in social, cultural, and spiritual models of disability which utilize the logic that disability is neutral, universal, and deeply human, holding its own richness of being. While I am certified in and practice a clinically-evidenced trauma therapy model, Internal Family Systems, I choose not to be a licensed therapist such that I can work outside the traditional model of therapy. Our care work together is not intended to take the place of clinical mental health services.
Ableism hurts, medical trauma hurts, and sometimes our bodies carry immense physical pain. Holding those truths, I am fiercely proud of my community: the way we survive together, the languages we create, and the culture we gift to the rest of the world.
